(Tutorial) Setting Up Your APN using iPhone Configuration Utility

As a user of iPhone, you will sometimes facing this difficulty where your APN is wrongly configured. Even sometimes the auto update configuration are also on the wrong side which renders your iPhone useless or expensive to use.

As mentioned on the Apple website, the iPhone Configuration Utility lets you easily create, maintain, encrypt, and install configuration profiles, track and install provisioning profiles and authorized applications, and capture device information including console logs.

That's a mouthful, especially if you're a newbies. Don't worry, as I already mention on previous post, I will help you on using this utility program to set your APN as your wish.

Step 1
Download the iPhone Configuration Utility from Apple site, or just click here for Windows (31.76MB) and here for Mac OS X (9.94MB). This is the version 3.1 (latest as September 08, 2010).

(News) PayBox

I found about this new site(Paybox) which from what I can see, is to be as an alternative to Paypal. It is still in development, and they requires support from all to be among the first (aka beta tester. or is it alpha? nevermind that, just support them!) to help them to improvise their systems and all. Did I said you will be given USD 50? Yes, as a reward or you might say a bonus when you became among the early bird(s) to support them. Just go here at PayBox.me. Thanks!

(Tutorial) Setting Up Your iPhone Internet & MMS Setting

As I'm using iPhone, the usual problem that's cropping and affecting everybody does occurred to me also. The unit I'm using was bought from Maxis, but I am using Digi as my service provider.. The problem usually starts whenever I'm restoring my phone. Sometimes I did forgot that the carrier setting aka APN setting will automatically updated to newest version, and as for me it always updated to Maxis setting, which means I cannot use MMS and also I would lose the ability to use tethering options.
I usually decline the offer to update the carrier setting, but sometimes I forgot and that means I need to do a restore which is time consuming.

(News) iPhone 4 in Malaysia

Yesterday, I received an email from Maxis regarding the incoming iPhone 4. The email is attached below. Coming soon.

The actual date is still unknown, but as both telco Digi & Maxis are competing for subscribers, and also judging from the almost simultaneously survey by both, we can assume the date is approaching.

(MyStory) The Story Of My Past

I have been using an iPod Touch 32GB for 2 years until I bought an iPhone 3G not long ago. Gave Sold the ipod to my sister as replacement for her old Walkman.

The ipod was great and I really mean it. I was studying in Japan and been searching for a portable device to help me with my studies and backpacking. Previously I bought a Casio E-Dictionary which cost me ¥25800 from BicCamera and also a PSP to stores pictures that I need such as train timetables, routes etc. The dictionary was good but I urgently need a better alternative. It was bulky and need to be flipped out and during walking around that is a big hassle...

The PSP was great for gaming, but for image viewing, I wished it was faster & easier. I prefer something smaller that I can carry or use just using one hand and I want it to be able to translate the japanese words into something i can understand, if complete with an explanation that would be a bonus. Then I found out about the iPod Touch and instantly I was hooked.

What's so great with an iPod Touch anyway some of you might ask. Well it was smaller than my dictionary, thinner than the iPhone (lighter too), I can use any dictionary I want (Kotoba anyone?) instead of one single dictionary that I can hardly understood, and it gets better. It has easier way to manipulate photo ie zoom in /out just by tapping the screen instead of using buttons. Well have you ever tried using PSP to view a photo before? It's cumbersome to say the least. Can you imagine, while fumbling with the button to zoom in the photo of a timetable, the train arrived and as you are in a hurry, you jump in just to realise later that you hopped into a wrong train.... What a waste of time.

And why I didn't bought the iPhone 3G earlier? Well... that's another story that I will share next time.

Thanks for reading my blog!

(MyStory) Memory remains

I just got a lot of birthday's wishes from my family, friends and friends of friends. I did forgot it was my birthday today, but fortunately my cousins (Hafiz and his big bro Zalik) sent me a greeting through the Facebook.

And I was speechless. Somebody just wished me on my birthday!!!

Truth to be told, our family seldom greet or celebrates each other birthday in the past. Maybe it's because we were still schooling, each at their own far far away school, living in the hostel, or studying overseas, which mean we didn't have time and chances to see each other a lot during those days.

And now that Abah had passed away, we took turns to look out for each other and also taking care of Mak.

If possible, I want to stay at kampung. I did regret never having the chances to be with Abah during his retirement till he passed away 4 years ago. The last memory of seeing him during Hari Raya Haji 2006 and also the moment when he wants me to try out all his clothes... just one day before he passed away due to heart problem.. is still lingering in my mind.

Abah, I missed you a lot. We missed you so much.

To Mak, Kak Long, Abang Ngah, Bang Khalid, Mie, Anne and Lin, so sorry for posting this up.... I really do.. It makes our past memories comes back, and remind us of what we have been missing, and do not let the chances go away without making it meaningful and memorable...

Semoga Abah ditempatkan bersama mereka yang dirahmati dan diberkati Allah. Amin.
