(Tutorial) Setting Up Your APN using iPhone Configuration Utility

As a user of iPhone, you will sometimes facing this difficulty where your APN is wrongly configured. Even sometimes the auto update configuration are also on the wrong side which renders your iPhone useless or expensive to use.

As mentioned on the Apple website, the iPhone Configuration Utility lets you easily create, maintain, encrypt, and install configuration profiles, track and install provisioning profiles and authorized applications, and capture device information including console logs.

That's a mouthful, especially if you're a newbies. Don't worry, as I already mention on previous post, I will help you on using this utility program to set your APN as your wish.

Step 1
Download the iPhone Configuration Utility from Apple site, or just click here for Windows (31.76MB) and here for Mac OS X (9.94MB). This is the version 3.1 (latest as September 08, 2010).

Step 2
Install the utility software. Just double click on the installer.

Step 3
Search for APN for your carrier. For service provider in Malaysia, please refer to my previous post here.

Step 4
Launch the utility.

Step 5
Go to File & New Configuration Profiles.

Step 6
Fill up the name and identifier. I set the name as APN and identifier as DIGI.

Step 7
Scroll down to the Advanced option. Press the Configure button. Fill in your carrier's APN information.

Step 8
Connect your iPhone or iPad to the computer. It will be shown at Devices.

Step 9
Select your iPad or iPhone. Now select the new configuration profile you've created. Click Install. It will install the carrier setting into you iDevice.

Step 10
Just approve the new profile at your iPad or iPhone.  Now, it is done!

That's all! Enjoy!
